Bilingual answering service: what Spanish actually costs

Nobody puts a language surcharge in their headline price. We read the fine print on every vendor's pricing page and built the table that should already exist: what Spanish-language answering actually costs, or does not, at each one.

Short answer: five vendors bundle Spanish for free. Three charge a flat monthly add-on, from $20 at PATLive to $30 at AnswerConnect. Smith.ai charges $1.00 a call on its human plans and includes it free on its AI plans. Four vendors publish nothing about language at all. Verified July 2026.

Every vendor's Spanish price, in one table

Pulled directly from each vendor's own languages field, not a sales call or a guess. Sorted free first.

VendorSpanish / bilingual costDetail
Ruby Included Bundled into every Receptionist plan, no separate charge anywhere.
Abby Connect Included The only vendor bundling it on both its human and AI tiers.
Dialzara No separate charge Listed as standard on every plan, no add-on fee in their pricing.
Rosie No separate charge Same as Dialzara: standard on every tier, no add-on fee published.
My AI Front Desk No separate charge 20+ languages, listed as a base feature with no per-language fee published.
PATLive $20/mo add-on The cheapest paid option we found.
AnswerConnect $30/mo add-on 50% more than PATLive for the same feature.
Slang.ai $99/mo add-on on Core Included free once you upgrade to Premium.
Smith.ai $1.00/call on human plans Included free on the AI plans instead.

Read that spread twice. Two vendors selling essentially the same flat monthly add-on, $20 at PATLive against $30 at AnswerConnect, are charging a 50% different price for what their own pricing pages describe as the same feature. Neither publishes a reason.

What the add-on costs over a year

Monthly numbers hide the real gap. A $20-a-month line item does not feel like much until you add it up.

$120 a year separates the two paid flat add-ons for the same feature, before you even compare either to the vendors charging nothing.

Does the add-on change who is cheapest overall?

Sometimes. We priced 200 minutes a month at each vendor's cheapest matching plan, added the Spanish surcharge where one applies, and compared the total. Ruby and Abby Connect already include it, so their number does not move.

VendorPlan for 200 minPlus SpanishTotal
AnswerConnect Entry $350 + $30 Spanish $380
PATLive Standard $460 + $20 Spanish $480
Abby Connect Professional (human) $599 Spanish included $599
Ruby Receptionist 200 $720 Spanish included $720

AnswerConnect stays cheapest even after its Spanish surcharge, at $380 against PATLive's $480, because its base per-minute rate is low enough to absorb the add-on and still win. AnswerConnect's Entry-tier plans also carry a $49.99 one-time setup fee on some tiers, which is not in the monthly total above. Ruby and Abby Connect cost more outright, but bundle scheduling, a bigger brand and, for Abby, an AI mirror tier along with the free Spanish, so the comparison is not purely about language.

Smith.ai's per-call Spanish, worked through

Smith.ai is the one vendor charging per call rather than per month, $1.00 on its human plans, free on its AI plans. That model rewards low volume and punishes high volume, the opposite of a flat fee.

Spanish calls a monthSmith.ai costBeats PATLive's flat $20?
10 calls$10.00Yes
20 calls$20.00Break-even
30 calls$30.00Matches AnswerConnect's flat $30
50 calls$50.00No, well past both

If Spanish-language calls are occasional, Smith's per-call rate is close to free. If they are routine, a flat add-on from a vendor that charges one, or a vendor that bundles it outright, gets cheaper fast.

Who says nothing about language at all

Answrr, Goodcall, NextPhone, Nextiva XBert publish no languages field on their pricing pages at all. That is not proof they lack Spanish support, it means we cannot compare what nobody states, and per the same rule that keeps guessed numbers off this whole site, we are not going to invent one for them. Ask directly before you assume either way.

Is bilingual worth paying extra for?

Only if your call log says so. Pull last month's calls and count how many needed Spanish. If the honest number is close to zero, an add-on vendor is not the wrong choice just because it charges, the fee is small against a base plan that might suit you better for other reasons. If Spanish calls are a real share of your volume, the five vendors bundling it for free remove one more variable to manage.

$62,400 per year
that is $5,200 a month

You miss about 10 calls a week, and roughly 3 of those callers would have booked.

Frequently asked questions

Which answering services offer Spanish-speaking receptionists?

Ruby, Abby Connect, Dialzara, Rosie and My AI Front Desk all list Spanish with no separate charge in their published pricing. PATLive ($20/mo), AnswerConnect ($30/mo) and Smith.ai ($1.00 a call on human plans, free on AI plans) charge extra for it. Slang.ai charges $99/mo on its entry tier and includes it free on Premium.

How much does a Spanish answering service cost?

If you pick a vendor that bundles it, nothing extra. If you pick one that charges, $20 to $30 a month is the going rate for a flat add-on, or $1.00 a call if you use Smith.ai's human plans. Over a year that is $240 at PATLive versus $360 at AnswerConnect for the identical feature.

Is bilingual answering included free or is it an add-on?

It splits the market almost evenly. Five vendors in our data bundle it at no extra cost: Ruby, Abby Connect, Dialzara, Rosie and My AI Front Desk. Three charge a flat monthly add-on, and Smith.ai charges per call on its human plans only, while including it free on its AI plans. Four more vendors, Answrr, Goodcall, NextPhone and Nextiva, say nothing about language at all.

Is Smith.ai’s per-call Spanish charge cheaper than a flat add-on?

Only below about 20 Spanish-language calls a month against PATLive's flat $20, or 30 calls against AnswerConnect's flat $30. Past that, the per-call charge costs more than either flat fee, because unlike plan overage, Smith's language add-on has no volume discount built in.
